Proverbs 4:23

“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”

Biologically, heart is the vital organ of our body. It pumps blood throughout the body to enable us to live and do our activities normally. If the heart is attacked, our whole body cannot function normally. And if the heart stops, our life stops.

The heart in this verse talks about our inner man. Just like our physical heart, it can’t be seen, but it’s vital. It determines the issues of life. If your heart is not in the right place, your life is not in the right place as well. If your heart is empty, your life is also empty. If your heart holds resentment and bitterness, your actions and your life will reflect it as well. It’s all the matter of heart.

The quality of your life depends on how smart you keep (guard) your heart

Ephesians 4:17-19

“This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk with...because the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.” (NKJV)

As you can see in the verse above, because the Gentiles’ hearts are blind, they gave themselves to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

The issue is from the inside out.

As long as you’re able to manage the things you want to let in or out from your heart, you can take control of your life. If you let certain things get into your heart, you might end up allowing these things to control your life.

Know the condition of your heart! You are the only one who knows it best.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

God doesn’t ask us to hand Him our labor and heavy laden. He said come to him, and He’ll give us rest. He’ll ‘refresh’ us and strengthen us, so we’re able to lift our heavy laden.

Rest is anapauo in its native language. Anapauo means to permit one to cease from any movement or labor in order to recover and collect his strength.

When your heart is empty and weak, you need to make it full again.

What are the things that can make your heart ‘full’ or ‘charged’?

1.       Word of God

2.       Presence of God

3.       Appreciation & recognition

4.       Success & Achievement

5.       Recreation

6.       Be among family & good friends

In the contrary, know the things that can make your heart empty, which are:

1.       Sin

2.       Not being appreciated

3.       failure

4.       Negative people

5.       Heavy responsibilities

Therefore, guard your heart with all diligence. Keep it ‘full’ with the positive things, so your life will be positive. For the issues of life spring inside out from the heart.

Be blessed!
